  • CE Mark Available for SOFT SHIELD® Collagen Shields

    by System Administrator | May 05, 2016

Indicated for ocular surface protection following surgery, injection, and traumatic or non-traumatic corneal conditions

    May 5, 2016

Glendora, CA – OASIS® Medical Inc., manufacturer and distributor of high quality disposable surgical instruments and ocular lubricating and cleansing solutions, has obtained a CE Mark opening the doors to the international market for their SOFT SHIELD® Collagen Corneal Shields which allow for ocular healing to take place by providing a protective barrier over the surface of the eye. As the shield gradually degrades, a thin layer of collagen is released which helps lubricate the eye.

SOFT SHIELD® Collagen Corneal Shields are clear, pliable, thin film of highly purified bovine collagen that has been lightly cross-linked to provide the desired degradation time on the eye. SOFT SHIELD® Collagen Corneal Shields are hydrated dome side down and must be inverted before being placed on the eye. Once applied to the eye, the hydrated shield will slowly absorb ocular fluids which contain collagenases and proteases. These enzymes cause the shield to slowly lose shape and eventually degrade. The shield is thicker in the center and thin out towards the edge. When hydrated, the water content of the shield is 65% to 85% depending on the degradation time.

There are four dissolution rates: QS, 12, 24, and 72 hour. The QS and 12-Hour shields are used primarily following cataract surgery and are intended to dissolve completely on the eye under a patch within 1 day. The 24-Hour and 72- Hour shields are used primarily following ocular injections, corneal trauma, and non-traumatic corneal conditions. They are intended to be placed on a non-patched eye and will remain on the eye, similar to a contact lens, for approximately the number of hours indicated. They will partially degrade during their time on the eye.

SOFT SHIELD® Collagen Corneal Shields are supplied sterile by electron beam irradiation in a double peel tray. The inner tray is intended to be used to hydrate the shield.

  • Oasis TEARS® PF, a Preservative-Free Lubricant Eye Drop in a Bottle for the Relief of Dry Eye

    by System Administrator | Mar 06, 2015

Oasis TEARS® PF is Available Through Optometric and Ophthalmic Practices in the U.S. and is Exclusively Distributed by OASIS® Medical.

GLENDORA, CA--(March 6, 2015) - OASIS Medical Inc., the exclusive US distributor for Oasis LID & LASH® brand of eyelid hygiene products and Oasis TEARS® brand of lubricating eye drops, introduces a preservative-free lubricant eye drop conveniently delivered in a 10mL bottle.

    Oasis TEARS PF

Lubricant eye drops, which are packaged in traditional multi-use bottles, contain preservatives to prevent microbial growth. Preservative-free lubricant eye drops are commonly packaged in unit-dose vials. These vials are small plastic one-time-use containers.

Oasis TEARS® PF Preservative-Free lubricant eye drops are packaged in an innovative ophthalmic multi-use bottle that prevents contamination through the use of a patented closing tip, valve and air venting system that prevents microbial entry into the bottle. This proprietary system keeps Oasis TEARS® PF sterile for up to 90 days after opening.

“We are pleased to have found a safe and convenient delivery system for Oasis TEARS® that combines the benefits of non-preserved TEARS with the convenience of a bottle,” said Craig Delgado, President, OASIS® Medical Inc. OASIS® Medical is bringing Oasis TEARS® PF Preservative Free bottle to eye care providers nationwide. At OASIS we continue our tradition of partnering with eye care providers to bring the highest level of patient care and practice support. Ophthalmic and Optometric practices that are interested in offering Oasis TEARS® to dry eye patients can contact oasistears@oasismedical.com.

  • OASIS® Medical Inc. is Now the Exclusive Distributor for an Effective Treatment that Improves Vision for Patients with Keratoconus

    by System Administrator | Jan 15, 2014

Intacs® corneal implants are now available through OASIS Medical Inc.

    Jan 15, 2014

Glendora, CA – OASIS Medical Inc., U.S. manufacturer and distributor of high quality disposable surgical instruments and ocular lubricating and cleansing solutions, jointly with Spain-based AJL Ophthalmic, S.A., manufacturer of ophthalmic implants, announce an exclusive relationship for the sales and distribution of Intacs® corneal implants for the treatment of keratoconus and FDA approved for the treatment of myopia.

AJL Ophthalmic announced the acquisition of Addition Technologies in January 2013. Addition Technologies will continue the manufacturing and remain the FDA approved Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE) holder of the device.

“OASIS is honored to work with AJL Ophthalmic S.A. and the Intacs device. Intacs serves keratoconus patients giving them a truly extraordinary option to retain their visual acuity once contacts or glasses are no longer a viable option,” said Craig Delgado, President of OASIS Medical Inc.

Keratoconus is a progressive disease where there is thinning and coning of the cornea that distorts vision and causes sensitivity to light. The corneal disease may progress to legal blindness and require a corneal transplant procedure. The cause of keratoconus is still unknown.

Intacs® is a unique corneal implant option that restores the natural shape of the cornea improving the patient’s vision and potentially avoiding corneal transplants. The minimally invasive procedure has a recovery period of days rather than months when compared to a corneal transplant procedure.
